mi lernas esperanton

i've been learning esperanto for a while now, but have a long way to go.  to prevent excruciating boredom, i try to mix up my learning methods.  you can only watch youtube videos in the language for so long, and you can only read the language for so long, and you can only study it out of a textbook for so long.  the next method i want to try is writing about my day in esperanto, which warrants a blog post.

english: today i woke up at the tenth hour, and 30 minutes.  like always, i went to the "canyon vista" food-eating-place [dining hall].  i ordered a burrito with cheese, vegetarian sausage, eggs and beans.  after that, i biked to a field where there was a flying disc tournament!  it was very fun.

...

well, that's enough for now.  despite all my studying so far, i still had to look up basically every word. i don't think the words stuck in my head very well, making this a highly unproductive exercise.  so i'm just not ready to start writing quality text freestyle like this.  i'm supposed to be able to understand by listening and reading very well before i work too hard on speaking and writing, like babies do (they don't start talking until a few years down the road) -- i've read this and a linguistics professor that speaks esperanto here at ucsd has told me this.  so that's all for now.  come back in a year for some more esperantic fun.
